Alright, I've made a discussion thread for Focus' Moving Waves from 1971 which was last week's homework.

http://www.musicbanter.com/prog-psyc...es-1971-a.html

And Henry Cow's Legend from 1973 won the homework poll. Get to it gangstas! See the first thread for details and PM me if there's anything else I can help you with. :)

Also, I'd like to see suggestions for next week! Boo and James, just say the word if you'd like to suggest the same albums and I'll include them in the upcoming poll with the descriptions you've already written.

I think starting a prog club chat would be a great idea.

Hey guys!

I'm sorry, but I've been so busy with my work up in the arctic that I forgot sorting out this week's homework. On the other hand, there hasn't been any suggestions so perhaps it's not such a crisis.

There are two things we can do now, I figure. We can make a thread for Henry Cow's Leg End now or we can let it be this week's homework as well and wait until next monday. Either way, I'll try to get the polls and stuff going this week although I should warn you guys that I will be away from the net some the coming days.

Any opinions?

Make it this week's homework so people have the time to check it out.

I'll suggest an album for the next poll later.

I agree :) Alright, then we'll let Henry Cow mature in our minds for another week before we make a discussion thread.

Let's see some suggestions, people! I might just repeat my Return to Forever one from the first poll ;)

Yo guys!

I couldn't get hold of the Henry Cow album. I heard it once with Tore but it wasn't enough to get an opinion. However, thanks for last weeks suggestion of Dun. It's good and quite scary stuff.

I have a suggestion for next weeks homework: Gilgamesh with their debut album Gilgamesh from 1975. I haven't listened to it yet, but an album I constantly listened to during last week with archive recordings, Arriving twice, published in 2000, is quite impressive - beautiful guitar riffs, and nice inter-song changes in time signatures and moods. Some songs transport the feeling of coolness, with ugly riffs making one feel uncomfortable, but then make a sudden change into beautiful harmony. Other songs are very emotional and calm. Sometimes they use an annoying organ effect, I guess that's the seventies. I have no time for checking out the musicians, but they are somehow connected to Canterbury.

So get some Gilgamesh folks!

Hey Phil! Nice to see you posting :D

Gilgamesh is a great sugggestion as well! Since there haven't been any other suggestions and thus no need for a poll, I figure we can settle on that one as next week's homework.

i got around to giving dun - eros a brief listen. i'm not sure if it was actually chosen or not. it all just seemed a bit mechanical to me. it was alright, but there weren't any of the big flourishes of sound that excite me in prog especially. it just kind of droned on and in and out. i didn't find it hypnotic either. after a bit my mind wandered. keep in mind i listened to this during an 8 hour drive so i was already a bit annoyed. some day i may get around to giving it another shot.

Aaight, so homework this week will be Gilgamesh's self-titled debut album from 1975.

It's a Canterbury scene jazz-rock album and was suggested by Phil :

As for this week and organizing a poll for thursday, I will see if I can get it done but I have to admit that I am somewhat super-busy this week and I have a feeling I'm gonna forget about it amidst everything else going on in my life at the moment, so if someone else could create a poll for thursday (if we get some suggestions), then that would be awesome!

Don't worry if you don't have poll creating experience etc. If you mess up, just PM a mod. ;)
