I'm not suprised Dark Side of the Moon is out front as lot of hardcore Floyd fans are into the psych space rock, but I've always loved the band for David Gilmour's bluesy hard rock guitar sound. (Young Lust, Have a Cigar, Not Now John Money, Another Brick) & for me it comes through the most on the wall.

Some of Gilmour's best guitar work is on The Wall, especially his solos. I just feel like The Wall is a huge commitment to listen to, and to me, as an album it's depressing as hell. But at the same time, it merits listening from start to finish. I tend to gravitate to a few choice tracks from it, but mainly the ... Brick in the Wall trilogy: Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 1, The Happiest Days of our Lives, and Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2.

I agree with you on depressing when it comes to some of the acoustic ballards on the album, and your right on the Gilmour' solos as well, Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 & Comfortably Numb are usually regarded as his most notable ones, but then again, anything Gilmour does is usually brilliant.

To me that's more of a separate interlude than an actual song.

True. It's also the weakest of the parts, in my opinion.

I'm not really a worshipper of The Wall. I feel like they just took most elements from The Who's Quadrophenia and just changed it to suit them.

I think Piper at the gates of Dawn
is the most irreplaceable Pink Floyd album really.
Wish you were here and Dark side
of the Moon are both masterpieces though.

I like Animals the most, but The Dark Side of the Moon is right up there with it because it has my favourite Pink Floyd song, The Great Gig In the Sky, on it.
