Cygnux X-1 Book II by Rush and The Musical Box by Genesis are both remarkable tracks that really shouldn't be overlooked. Both are really lifechanging.

So if you'd vote for any of those, they can be added.

While I like Tull's TAAB better as a complete album. Close to the Edge I think is the greatest prog epic; it is just flawless in every way.

My favourite prog epic at the moment is National Health's Tenemos Roads (which is not in the list), but I guess I can still stand by my vote for Close to the Edge. It really is brilliant even if I've long since listened the crap out of it :)

Probably few people have even heard of it, but "Creepshow" by Twelfth Night is a great prog epic, if it could be added?

Maybe I'm just an idiot asking stupid shit, but isn't Shine On You Crazy Diamond a prog epic?

it's spilt into two parts

you should either vote for Parts I to V

or VI to IX

it's not one huge epic

That be true. If they would've just made sure that the parts could be played right after each other, but no.

As far as proggy epics go, I've always felt Starcastle deserve a bit more love than they get. :D

if you want to get all technical about it, "echoes" isn't even prog

it has about 3 chords, and the solos are improvised jams

not really a "traditional" prog song, in any sense of the word

Jarvig 07-03-2012 12:03 PM

Echoes is psycedelic prog.

But the best epic is Pink Floyd - Dogs.
