Default Pink Floyd discussion

I implore you to discuss the greatest band ever: Pink Floyd.

I thought it kind of odd that there is a Prog/Psych forum but no Pink Floyd thread. Sacrelige! Maybe they are a bit too mainstream when compared with the likes of Spooky tooth, Gentle Giant, and Caravan.

But this dosent have to be a thread about Dark Side, We can dig a little deeper in to Atom Heart Mother, More and Ummagumma, among others.

My top 3 albums:

Atom Heart Mother
Obscured By Clouds
Animals

Top 3 Songs: (these change often)
Echoes
Cymbaline
Dogs

Wish you were here, Animals, and Dark side are my top three. I have not listened to Floyd nearly as much as I should, they definitely deserve a thorough exploration.

edit- Top three songs are Time, Pigs(three different kinds) and Wish you were here.

A good start! The big 3 or 4 (DSOTM, WYWH, Animals, The Wall) are where most people begin their Floyd journey.

After you have those under your belt , the next thing to do is work your way backward. I reccommend Meddle and Obscured by Clouds next, which are two of their more accessible early albums.

On Meddle, pay close attention to Echoes and Fearless.

On Obscured... pay close attention to Childhood's End and Wot's... Uh The Deal?

Also, Careful with that Axe, Eugene is a masterpiece that can be found on Relics.

Happy Listening!
