Sleepy Sun
Sleepy Sun has had their album Embrace knocking about on iTunes and various other places since 2008. Until June 16th 2009 when they finally released Embrace on CD worldwide. Mixing elements of psychedelic rock, massive guitars and some pop sensibilities. This eclectic mix comes from all their varied influences and differing tastes. Despite all this their music is incredibly cohesive, and form a tight bond with the listener. Not only that, but the two times I've seen them live (recently) they've been absolutely awesome guys. The first time I saw them was on thursday, and before the gig I was drinking with my girlfriends cousin, and the female vocalist and the bassist came and were talking between themselves. At this point I took the opportunity to be like "are you guys Sleepy Sun?" And their faces lit up at being recognized. At the same time there was morris dancing going on, so after talking to them for ages Rachel decided to go check it out, and we were joined by one of the guitarists and the lead vocalist. After that the rest of the band came over and we had a big chat about everything. Their influences, life on the road and whatnot. Getting quite drunk in the process. After that they got us both on the guest list, and we headed up, the first support act were alright, but the second was pretty awesome. Heavily influenced by the Fall, a band called Night of Sevens. Anyways after talking to them more they took the stage.

And then last night (sunday) I drove all the way down to Leeds to see them again, on my own this time. They put me straight on the guest list again and I spent ages talking to the drummer, who is absolutely awesome. Then we were going to play some foosball but we couldn't get the machine working, and eventually we had to ditch it and go to the gig.
Some pics from the Leeds gig: They were also recently reviewed by pitchfork, I asked all the band members in turn about it, and basically all of them gave the same response. "I don't really like pitchfork and were sure we were going to get absolutely destroyed in their review, but I guess we were lucky." They've recorded a new album, it's going to have 9 songs, and be a few minutes shorter than Embrace. It's going to be mastered in September and released sometime in Spring. I can't wait for the leak. Anyways discuss the best band ever, sleepy sun. I also got a t-shirt and a CD which got signed by the entire band, will get more pics later.

Wow, that's an awesome experience. Why doesn't that shit ever happen to me...with bands that I actually like...
Anyhoo, I downloaded Embrace based on your rave reviews in the halfsies thread but it kinda bored me...:\

Give it a few more spins, it was pretty instant for me. Make sure you don't listen to it quietly though. It's meant to be turned up to 11.
