There you go.
You answered your own question: "what is the meaning of this thread?"

The meaning is that , for all the resentful Media-Cunks' preoccupation with words like '"pretension" when trying to box prog, the coverarts at least point in the direction of the opposite - of non-ego trips. The coverarts (at least)tend to speak otherwise.

Do you understand now where this thread is going?

(Not really, eh?? Maybe the problem lies with the constant thud of all them little jackhammers.)

I think we already know who's going to win the 2011 award for "Most Pretentious"

That's only if he doesn't win the ban award first.

RVCA:
I would not pass judgement so easily were I thou.

Not many veteran Mastermen would lower themselves towards dipping pinkies in dilettante(at best) waters as these; deffering to uninformed noobs.

If I am to be judged an unparallelled bravado, then at the very least honour me with the title of being a MAGNANIMOUS one.

And the answer is...
the band, FAUST!

(Actually they had more than 4 releases, but most dont count the later live soundtrack Nosferatu or the patched together Munic & Elsewhere.)

Bosch cover art

Sun Ra - It's After the End of the World

This one is mixed with Jan van Eyck

Ray Manzarek - Carmina Burana

Magritte inspired:

The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute

Escher inspired

Mandrake Memorial - Puzzle

So instead of opening separate thread for every artist inspired cover art, let's keep it in one thread.

Finally!
A response with substance which is actually on subject.

And not just some desperate smart-assing.

....
Pink Floyd had an Escher cover, but Baggs cannot think of it just now.

Why do you care so much about cover-art? Why not talk about the music?
