i HAVE TO DISAGREE. not because i am a drummer (which i am) but because a good drummer replacing a bad drummer in a band can completely reshape the band. good rhythm is essential for tight music.

AND - it's not so much about the difficult or the execution of perfect chops. you don't have to listen to the drummer if he knows what he's doing, because it SOUNDS right. it's good ears more than anything. people seem to have forgotten that good musicians start with good ears.
and ps. my vote will be for volta. it would have been tool, because maynard has 1000 voices, jones uses his simple guitar skills + techy **** to make some of the craziest sounds ever, the bassist has actually figured out how to properly seat himself in that very strange arrangement without EVER over-playing, and obviously, carey is about as intuitive as it comes with drummers (NOT SAYING HE'S THE BEST!),...... BUT, puscifer, one of maynard's sideshows, is coming to a town near me and he is selling tickets to meet him before the show... at 250 bucks a pop. no vote for major sell-outs like that.
so volta gets it, just cuz because they have a tight sound (even though i've heard they suck live) including all sorts of musical elements with a heavy dose of latin influence, which i can't get enough of. and they're original as all hell.
sorry for my three posts. ;)
