I went with Kayo Dot. Of their discography, I can say that at least two of their albums (their debut Choirs of the Eye and their latest Coyote) are personal favorites, and while the other two aren't quite as enticing, they still have very intriguing moments that give them more than enough merit (well Blue Lambency Downward is rather weak, but whatever). Their avant-garde tendencies, as well as the big size of their instrumentation make the music so much more rewarding. The fact that they contain so many spoken word portions and random spasms of ambiance may make some think they're one of those 'pretentious art crowd bands', but underneath that lie some of the most intriguing and structured pieces of avant-garde/prog rock that I've seen in a long time.

Just out of curiosity, have any of you heard about the new Watchtower album coming out? They aren't exactly new blood, but it's been a while since any material from them has been released.

Lot of names I've not come across yet, but where is Pure Reason Revolution, The Pineapple Theif, The Mayan Factor and Fair to Midland??
My vote goes to Tool, mainly because Tool and Fair To Midland were the two bands that got me into the genre. |

I voted for The Mars Volta, but Coheed and Cambria made quite an impression on me with my first purchase by them.... whatever the heck the 4th album is called. The name is way too long to write out.
