probably some with prog tendencies but i doubt there is an actual genre.

Do you know any artists?
It would be interesting to hear rap with strange time signatures....

Probably. I think Madlib might qualifiy, he samples prog bands all the time and his beats are pretty out there.

I voted for Muse because I think they have the potential to record one of the best prog albums of all time if they'd get serious about it and sod off Modern Rock radio oriented tunes.

yes, they do. But it's worrying that their first self produced album (so probably the stuff they want to do) seems to be their most radio friendly/furthest away from prog... Though exogenesis is a glimmer of hope.

I don't like any rap, but I would be willing to attempt such a genre...

Sage Francis.

Look him up.

Porcupine Tree without doubt. Probably one of my favourite bands of all time.

Porcupine Tree.

I'm going to be stereotypical and say......

Battles :(

god, I'm predictable. I would have voted for Kayo Dot or TMV but you can only pick one, and Battles got me into post-rock, so I owe quite a bit to them.

And I'm never going to vote Muse because they have these boring, generic tendencies, and the song they did for twilight made me frown the entire time it was on the radio at school. I don't know why, but Muse just has no appeal to me whatsoever, and I'm a big prog fan :(
