...you've never listened to piper at the gates of dawn?

No, actually I don't have any Pink Floyd albums.:shycouch: Don't worry, I'll get round to listening to them soon.

I haven't heard SF Sorrow, but Sgt. Pepper's is boring, whereas Piper is so weird and awesome.

Piper for me.

Hello all, first time poster. Good read this forum. :)

In my humble opinion, the reissue of SF Sorrow with the inclusion of The Pretty Things' singles of the time takes an already strong album, and nudges it in with the big boys.

Piper at The Gates is lovely, I mean Mathilde Mother is gorgeous, and Bike and The Gnome are just belting. Cant help thinking though it suffers from what SF Sorrow suffers from.

Imagine it if Piper at The Gates had See Emily Play and Arnold Layne on it, it would have then probably had given Sgt Pepper a rightfully good kicking.

But for original releases out of the three I'll have to go with Sgt Pepper just for sheer depth of quality. But strangely I listen to the other 2 more .....I guess that comes from listening to Sgt Pepper too many times growing up.

Now imagine Sgt Pepper had "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane".

The Beatles have two of the more proggier type songs in “A Day in the Life" and “Within You Without You" and Pink Floyd have the more psychedelic sounding songs. Both albums have songs that basically no one in rock music was doing at the time. In my opinion stranger or weirder does not mean it's greater so I pick Sgt Pepper because the Beatles had the melodies and the better ideas to me. I listened to some of S.F Sorrow and I like what I hear.

I am going with the Floyd here.

I never listened to S.F. Sorrow until this thread, and I can say that that album does indeed belong in the same category as the other two. Unbelievably good.

Piper, easily. Floyd were already past music kaleidoscope-pop stuff like 'See Emily Play' and 'Arnold Layne' when they were releasing Piper.

Sgt Pepper, though it's something I rarely listen to without Magical Mystery Tour as a companion album.
