The way I heard you talk about them earlier I thought they were some old metal band. It actually sounds awesome, I'll be sure to check them out.

This is one of my favorite albums of all time. Who knew acoustic instruments could sound so violent and nasty? Two of the songs (Diana, Song to Comus) are about luring a young girl in the woods to rape. Here is a lyric:
"Hymen hunter, hands of steel, crack you open and your red flesh peel Pain procurer, eyes of fire, pierce your womb and push still higher Comus rape, Comus break, sweet young virgin's virtue take Naked flesh, flowing hair, her terror screams they cut the air" It's like folk music on an acid trip from hell. Love it. |
I had a listen, it's not that bad, but there are way better albums from the period though. Nothing special really.
|
From the period, yes, but from the genre? (if you can pinpoint it enough, that is.) I still haven't heard anything quite like it, and I'm an avid listener of folk/psych/rock from the '70s.
Just out of curiosity, what are some albums you'd place above it? |
I'm going to stick my neck out and say whilst i can definitely appreciate and it's an original album, I very rarely play it and get bored quickly. Perhaps if I got back on the old dope I could get into it but just because an album is wildly different doesn't mean it's anylessmore palatable personally.
|
I'm so intimate with the album that I've never gotten bored during it, I just relax, close my eyes and gather it all in.

I listened to First Utterance, but I really hated the vocals, and it really bored me. I can see how it's likeable, but it made my stomach turn. Didn't enjoy at all. |
Try it again.

I REALLY don't understand how First Utterance can be boring. Especially the track Drip, Drip which has as much energy as a song by The Mars Volta.
Oh, and is it true that Comus is making a new album? |
