Samla Mammas Manna
A highly underrated Swedish Avant-garde prog. group. I decided to start a thread cuz they are definitely listenable, even though It's completely Insane music .
Insane music? What do they sound like? Well, I have absolutely no idea. But this is definitely enjoyable, kinda funny stuff . Funny high pitched vocals, circus themes in their music, and a bit of jazz fusion as well. It's mostly instrumental, although the vocals do add a nice touch to it. There's this charm about it. Listen to an album of theirs completely and you'll definitely feel it. Posting youtube links does no good imo. Listening to just one track might put you off, but an album as a whole is more pleasurable. I can assure that you wouldn't have heard anything like it before. Their self-titled debut, Maltid, Klossa Knapitatet & Familjesprickor are all superb releases. Maltid is definitely the standout for me and the best place to start. The musicianship portrayed there is stunning, and despite the 'avant-garde' tag, It's still very much accessible. It's just different. Finding their stuff might be hard, but if any of you couldn't, well, you know whom to ask . Anyways, for curiosity's sake, here's a track - In fact, this is the only long track from the album (Maltid). The rest range from 2-6 minutes. Last edited by Demonoid; 11-26-2008 at 05:51 AM. |
