It's hard to say which ones to get because they're all so good... hmm Signify is amazing as well. I think Stupid Dream is easier to get into at first plus it comes with the 5.1 surround disc as well (like I said before). You really do need the home theater set-up though.

My Dad has one, and I plan to listen to Lightbulb Sun on it tomorrow :D

Signify is different but also great! It seems you really like PT so be sure you will need all their albums soon or later ;)

I am working on it, but as a 15 year old out of a job, it's quite hard :p

I want the special edition so much :( I just can't afford it.

As a matter of interest, just how many bands/projects does SW have?

DiSTANToblivion 04-11-2010 07:05 AM

hahaha at us three being the only ones keeping this thread alive... :(

Let's see Steven Wilson side projects? Well I know of Blackfield and No Man...

Petula I can't wait for the DVD :thumb:

Well, it's not easy to count them :D I know about 7 projects. Here they are...

1. S. Wilson solo
2. Porcupine Tree
3. Blackfield
4. No-man
5. Bass Communion
6. Continuum
7. I.E.M. = Incredible Expanding Mindf*ck
Something else - with Opeth, Orphaned Land.....

1. S. Wilson solo - MySpace - album Insurgentes and some EP albums with names Cover versions (some cover versions and his own songs)

2. Porcupine Tree - MySpace - psychedelic, progressive rock

You know their newer albums so here is one track from their first album :D

3. Blackfield - MySpace - melancholic pop-rock, with israeli pop singer Aviv Geffen

4. No-man - MySpace - mixture of progressive, ambient, pop, jazz, alternative... In this project SW isn't singer. Singer is Tim Bowness. I read that SW expected this will be his main band.

5. Bass Communion - MySpace - ambient, electronic, experimental

6. Continuum - MySpace - industrial, alternative, experimental

7. I.E.M. = Incredible Expanding Mindf*ck - it doesn't have MySpace, it's experimental and instrumental music

So these 7 but I guess he was part of many many other projects too.
You know, for example with Opeth, SW songs in chorus in studio version of Opeth song Bleak. Time 3,24 - for sure you will recognize his voice.

Also Opeth's song Death whisper a lullaby is work of SW - he wrote lyrics for this song.

I am a fan of Opeth too so I know about these examples but maybe SW is involved in more projects...who knows...
As I know, he plays keyboards on new album of israeli metal band Orphaned Land.

Hehe, mrguy - do you see?
SW has sooo wide music taste and every his project is different music. I think it's amazing.

More informations about SW and his work here - Steven Wilson Headquarters

Haha, that's a pity but 3 persons in this thread is better than nothing ;)
I just can't help, I love this band and SW soooo much.
Just now I am listening to PT album Up the downstair.

Woah Petula... you done well gathering all that :thumb:
Nice work! :D

mrguy 04-11-2010 03:03 PM

Wow! Did not expect such a good response. Thank you!

Highwayman 04-11-2010 06:26 PM

I'm considering getting into Porcupine Tree. A friend of mine introduced them to me a while ago but I never really gave them much of a listen after that. I love prog and feel like I'm missing out. What would you compare them to? And what album do you recommend?
