Steve Howe based on Close to the Edge alone.
And Mick Box?:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Love me some Heep, but even he would LOL at his name being included. |
I originally voted Zappa but now it's Fripp all the way

So glad I'm verified with mainstream poll tastes and Gilmour! On a side note, saw Robert Fripp solo. Amazing. Atmospheric and free too.
|
Zappa said he wasn't prog.
Besides, all his guitar solos sound the same - all "Willy The Pimp". Should be taken off that "list". |
Alex Lifeson for me. His guitar work is just MIND BLOWING! So glad I got to see Rush live!

In hindsight my biggest f*ck up with this poll was not including Allan Holdsworth, an incredible player who played with so many bands in the 70s, he was like the Forrest Gump of prog.
Also I would have left out John Petrucci and for other reason than I f*cking hate Dream Theater and wouldn't be able to resist the urge to bully anyone who voted for him. |
Tough for me to choose between Fripp, Zappa, Frith, Karoli and Belew. All among my favourites and masters of their respective styles but hardly comparable to each other. Fred Frith might be my favourite guitarist generally but more for his free improv stuff.
Edit: Imho including Can in a prog list is wrong(ish). |
