Liking this album certainly ain't a guarantee, Browns vocals are so crazy on this album, his range is incredible, he goes from crooning in baritone to some of the craziest falsetto screams I've ever heard. Tomorrow - 'Tomorrow' (1968)

At some point I promise to include a less-than-great album for perspective (as well as some garage rock); but I just had to get this out of the way. UFO Club alumni Tomorrow's eponymous record is one of the better known 60's also-rans, and ofcourse made absolutely no commercial impact. However, John Peel (praise his name) championed the band on his Top Gear show; and there's a fantastic version of the psych standard 'Revolution' from these sessions which I'll include in the upload.

The album is exemplified by showcasing almost everything from 'toytown'-psych stylings ('Three Jolly Little Dwarfs') to baroque pop ('Auntie Marie's Dress Shop'), heavy psych ('Claramount Lake'), raga ('Real Life Permanent Dream') and some great cover versions of the psychedelic standards 'Why' and 'Strawberry Fields Forever'.

As if this weren't enough we have the metaphorical anthem 'My White Bicycle', which manages to capture the runaway spirit of the age and incorporate many of psychedelia's innovations into one song (flanging, use of non-musical instruments, reverse...well everything).

A great selling point for all you psych-skeptics is the total absence of any kind of electric organ AND the recording debut of the mighty Steve Howe; who would of course soon find success with skiffle giants Yes. 'Tomorrow' belongs alongside the debut records of peers Soft Machine and Pink Floyd.

Arthur Brown was a special kind of nutter, I wonder if it was all drugs? That 'Nightmare' spot is amazing, the drummer totally steals the spotlight though IMO... thanks for bringing that album to light, I knew I was missing something

I really like the Tomorrow album. After years of listening to Nazareth's version of My White Bicycle it was refreshing to hear the original.

BUMP. I am looking for any enthusiasts of psychedelia, garage, baroque/chamber pop (preferably with a psych twist), late 60's hard rock (Blue Cheer, the power trios), proto-prog from all around the world and anything I have forgotten to contribute to this thread.

There are a monumental amount of lost gems out on the blogosphere that I and my friends are unearthing all the time, and I'm a bit overwhelmed to get them all up here, rated and linked (in the case of the really rare ones).

Basically any fans of this music get posting (Lucifer_Sam, Zombeels to name but two) and I think we can really awaken this forum to some top music.
I am about to become somewhat busier than I have been so it's your passion for the music that will keep this thread from sinking. I have recently been going bat-**** crazy for the Complete Recordings of Left Banke - America's answer to the chamber pop and classical-influenced arrangements of the Zombies and that other ****ty band that begins with 'B'.

Here they are, I shall get a short-but snappy review up in a couple of days:

Also there are some classics that haven't been touched: Fifth Dimension, Younger Than Yesterday, Revolver, Sgt Peppers, Magical Mystery, Ogden's Nut-Gone Flake, Their Satanic Majesties Request, Surrealistic Pillow, LOVE, Anthem of the Sun, 13th Floor Elevators, United States of America... there's tons of experimental but fiercely anti-psych music from the era such a Frank Zappa's 60's output (come on, how many people must have blazed to that album) that I think ought to be covered.

If anybody is interested either PM me or just get posting with the album you love - please include the artwork! It looks nicer.

In the meantime go back and check some of the albums already featured, I think they all still have working links.

A band featuring Delia Derbyshire who performed the original Doctor Who theme. The fanboy in me just thought i'd better mention that

It's a hugely groundbreaking album that doesn't get anywhere near the credit it deserves.
