I was playing some ELO in Plug and JWB said they sound like The Beatles. I don't think they do.

I think the song was Mr Blue Sky.

I'd say some of their songs definitely have a Beatles flavor (especially Mr. Blue Sky, since it's pretty much an homage to Day In The Life), but in general, when they get those harmonies going, I'd compare them more to The Beach Boys

ELO sounds like Yes if anything.

I thought Going For The One was an ELO track for years.

Ah they do. Lynne was very influenced by them. Listen to Zoom and you'll hear the influence loud and clear.
