It took all of the members to create what we know today as Pink Floyd. I'm a fan... such a fan... of most Floyd. However, Syd took them past the disgruntled English schoolboys they were. I even love all of Syd's solo stuff. Gilmour is a genuis... so are Mason and Wright (RIP)
Roger Waters can't be overlooked for his impact on what we know as... well, as Floyd. However, seeing Roger today... for some reason he just pisses me off! |

I think Syd was the best songwriter and singer, Gilmour was the most talented instrumentally but has a boring voice and isn't very prolific in songwriting. Waters was a very good songwriter and has a distinct voice though...
Probably: 1. Syd 2. Waters 3. Gilmour 4. Wright 5. Mason |

The appeal of Pink Floyd has never been the singing (with the notable exception of The Great Gig in the Sky).
