Caravan - Whaddaya reckon?
I'm not a fan or anything, but my dad kept telling me all the fockin' time to get this album and eventually he got it for me himself. It's called In The Land Of Grey And Pink. I've listened a few times and I mean, it's pretty good music really. Not sure it could ever be a band of choice, though.
What do others think? |
Caravan is a great band of the Canterbury prog scene. Gong and Soft Machine are the other big ones which I'd recommend. Gong is quite strange (and French) and Soft Machine are quite jazzy with long jams.
|
What is the Cantebury scene? I've heard of it before, but don't really understand what any of its defining characteristics may have been.

There was a group of bands from Canterbury in at the end of the 60s mostly known for playing prog/psych you might want to check out Soft Machine , Robert Wyatt , Henry Cow , Hatfield & The North and Gong for further listening
|
Always meant to check out Gong and Caravan but never got around to it.

Gong are great. I am sure you would like them. I have to get some stuff by them. I had some stuff on vinyl that I have never managed to replace (Flying Teapot being one of my faves).
|
Yeah I've heard a couple Gong songs and remember liking them
