Out of all the persons that have existed on this earth, Zappa would have been one Id like to spend the afternoon with.

It's sad. People see the hair, the scowl and hear the music...and immediately think "drugs" But Frank was clean (cept for ciggies)

I get frustrated cause I cant write music like his, LOL, but he remains a large influence on my musical choices and my thinking.

Now I dont like everything he's done. The Sheik Yerbouti/You are What you is period was really rank. Thingfish was highly racist and idiotic....and the Mothers period with Flo and Eddie...ahh......But thru Zappa, I learned about Stravinsky, Hindemith, Elliot Carter, Stockhausen, Oliver Messiaen and others.....Not bad for a black kid from urban Philadelphia, huh?

Listening to "Sinister Footwear" is just one of my favorite Zappa moments. I mean there are so many compositions I could name...but this one and "Zoot Allures" almost brings me to tears...the emotions, the many colors...its just a sadness that this man no longer is with us.

Kill Ugly Radio.
