I like them both but I tend to listen to APC more because it is softer. I have yet to listen to eMotive but I have 13th Step and that has owned my iPod many times

oneandonlymea 11-20-2005 07:45 PM

tool & apc are def prog gods.

extremely different; extremely awesome.

eMotive...your not missing much, most of the things aren't even really songs. It's just a bunch of nothing. The only good song is Passive.

Whats your favourite 13th step song. I love all the ones in the middle of the album but I never shy away from listening to the Package. That song is so good!

mosesandtherubberducky 11-20-2005 08:20 PM

Yes Package is good and the second song and Blue and The Nurse

Tool sure, maybe not APC though.

MyFavouriteAccident 12-15-2005 05:29 AM

tool, their bass, guitar, drumming, singing, everything is perfect,

songs like schism, lateralus, prison sex etc. they are the things that got me into tool.

live, they are a great band to. man he can sing.

but i dont mind APC, 3 libra's is a nice song to chill to..

oneandonlymea 12-16-2005 05:51 AM

apc > tool

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 12-16-2005 09:49 AM

apc spawned from tool.

in light of that.

Tool > APC

And to an above poster, yes, 3 Libras is an exellent song to chill to.

Yanqui_UXO 12-16-2005 11:57 AM

love tool, really dislike APC.

Kashmir86 12-16-2005 11:59 AM

I liked APC when they first came out, but now I'm not sure what to think. Their new stuff hasn't really hit it with me. And the cover of When the levee breaks was weak...

Kashmir86 12-16-2005 12:00 PM

As was imagine... I don't like bands that take classic songs and basically just sing them in their style, the original songs begin to lose their magic...

I preffered APC's version by far.
And yes, eMOTIVe was a big let down.

the only thing i liked was the album cover, but every tool/apc album cover is freakin awesome. As is any Floyd cover, but now they have the technology to make really cool holograms and such. And lennons version strikes it big with me, APC just put their dark, not so positive twist on the song and I didn't like it. Just my opinion, but it was meant to be a song of hope, more than a song of negativity, but then again none of tool or APCs songs sound positive, so I shouldn't have expected much different...

Ah yes, I suppose I like the way they took the song and adapted it like that, it seemed more realistic i suppose.
But I still enjoy the original of course.
They do have nice album covers don't they, except for some reason despite the thirteenth step being a great album, I really don't like the artwork :[

I'm a big John Lennon fan.. all of his music, his lyrics everything.. amazing.. one of the best song writers out there, and so passionet but anyways.. i agree with this dude, i love a perfect circle's version of imagine its nuts.. i thought it was going to be like total crap but they impressed me.. :o)

you guys thoughts on either band

Well, at 1st I wasn't really much into A Perfect Circle at all and it pissed me off in many ways!!!:nono: I knew that Tool wouldn't be the main focus at that time and, therefore, A Perfect Circle would lead us to waiting longer for a new Tool album, if it's ever going to be done!!!I've heard some of the circles stuff and thought it was pretty cool and interesting, but I still believe that tool was and is a much more unique band!!!:band: I don't know if I'd call them a "soft version of tool" like you did...
...I'd probally just call them a basic rock band with a few good tunes.

And yes, they are very different from other bands, as well as each other!!!Tool has Danny Carey for one and, with me being an accomplished drummer, I can see that he is a very talented and unique artist!!!That's pretty much the main part that circle's missing when trying to compare them with tool...
...Danny Carey is the drummer that makes tool truly sound like tool and nobody could ever replace his unique style in that band!!!:drummer: He really is the main difference for the most part...
...and that's what makes tool better I.M.O. besides the fact that tool has been around longer.I truly respect his style and would love to see a new tool album in the future, cheers to that!!!

i think thats completely right.. the sound is so much different.. but i'm glad of that.. because i like both bands.. i like a perfect circle more.. not sure why..but i get into moods to listen to both.. anyways but i think that a perfect circle isn't half as good as tool because of the fact danny carey he is gold!:drummer:

Danny Carey is good but he doesn't define Tool. Though he does contribute a lot towards their diversity. But I wouldn't say APC have missed out on anything in Josh Freese.

So, you like apc more, but have just realized that Danny Carey is most likely a better drummer? As I've said above, I.M.O. as well as going by the fact that I am an accomplished drummer, I believe that Danny Carey is a better drummer than apc's!!!:drummer:I guess the difference between my opinion and yours is that I like Tool better and you like apc more, huh?No doubt about it that both bands are good bands, though. :D

Sabgoat 01-03-2006 02:33 PM

good gald we agree on one point!!!

I believe the other person was trying to say that Tool has alot more experience and integrity than most of these kids that actually DO rap in their so called metal songs!!!:nono: One of the big differences is that Tool never chose to incorporate rap into their style. They are quite simply a uniquely dark, different, and powerful hardrock band, ya hear? They deserve more respect than to be placed in a category of music that they were never involved in or tried to do, period!!!

sleepy jack 03-06-2006 10:17 PM

I like both bands, I have some of their stuff. I havn't listened to tool like, a proper listen in ages.

Laces Out Dan! 03-06-2006 10:17 PM

I like neither of the bands...:(

explosions-in-my-pants 03-06-2006 11:57 PM

i like tool alot, and have for many years. thats actually one of the bands that got me out of listening to classic rock so much.. it opened my eyes to greater music..

as for A Perfect Circle, i really like a nice few of there songs.. and i think they did a amazing job with 'imagine' but there still not as great as tool. A Perfect Circle have much more of a pop sound to them, more radio friendly but there still ok.

i personally think its just time to pick which band stays and which one stops going. I would much rather Tool then A Perfect Circle... it used to be the other way around but i'm back into tool more like when they first opened my eyes.

anyways everything else has already been said.

rock on! :band:

white_powered_zombie 03-09-2006 12:47 AM

What is Blair up to? is he going to stay with tool now or continue playing with apc aswell?

Adora 03-12-2006 05:08 PM

Love both of them. Two of my absolute favourite bands. I want to marry Maynard and have his babies.. Mmmm Maynard..

Tool rules, they bring the ock in Rock

Sodarktheconofman 03-22-2006 07:11 PM

I remember back in like 7th or 8th grade, watching the video for Schism. And this was back before I was a real big msuic buff. I was completely captivated and just thrown back by it. I had never seen nor heard anything in the nearest ballpark of Tool. There is no other band or musician that could come close to sounding like Tool. It isn't even feasable in my mind. I love the lyrics, the music, the intensity and emotions behind it. I don't havea favorite album or song because I love all of it. To say I highly anticipate their new album would be an understatement. I need this album.

I love APC as well. They might not do it for me as much as Tool, but still they touch me. I love 13th step. It carries me away. The world would be void without MJk, but I do not mean to deify him.

Nikie Pentagram 04-13-2006 10:31 AM

A Perfect Circle

A Perfect Circle are Maynard's side project from Tool. I dare say loads of you have heard of them, but I've not seen a thread on them anywhere yet. They're very good, not as good as Tool in my humble opinion, but I still think they're good.
