Im not saying it was a particularly bad album, but their own and other stuff is just so much better that I would have gotten into them more if I had Mer De Noms first, instead of eMOTIVe... I still like eMOTIVe though, Im not saying I dont.

IMATOOL 05-04-2005 12:48 PM

I get that. what are your fave songs?

ArtistInTheAmbulance 05-04-2005 12:56 PM

I think Hollow has got to be one of my faves... And Judith is awesome too. Some of their covers didnt turn out too bad either.. OOooh and Passive is great.. Dont think I could pick just one song though.

IMATOOL 05-04-2005 01:06 PM

3 Libras and Orestes are my all time faves

Maggot 05-07-2005 11:58 PM

A Perfect Circle easily...

Trauma 05-08-2005 12:05 AM

tough..........
I'd say Tool because they are about the same in my mind....but Tool is much better live! definitely.

Ensemble 05-09-2005 08:19 PM

I just found out the song is called 'Sober'. Too bad the CD has a parental advisory. :(

.angie. 05-09-2005 08:27 PM

so... buy it yourself and burn the little booklet that comes with the cd. your parents will never know. :)

Ensemble 05-09-2005 08:32 PM

That dosen't seem sneaky and shady to you?

.angie. 05-09-2005 09:00 PM

meh. who cares. it all works. you get a good cd, and your parents dont know that its 'bad.' its all peachy.. i'd do it.

bluestbunnie 05-19-2005 05:45 PM

Tool is a good band but my more preferred band would have to be A Perfect Circle. The first song by them that I listened to was Three Libra's and i've been hooked since. I'm at my final year of school now and I'm doing music as one of my course and I'm playing Wake the dead on guitar for my final music piece. It's such a good song for simple guitar work I really like it.

Merkaba 05-20-2005 12:37 AM

So what did you think of their emotive cd?

AFI 05-21-2005 03:16 PM

Tool APC is alright but Tool is way more heavy.

Static-Fear-Shot 05-24-2005 10:27 PM

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE TOOL AND APC ..... MAYNARD IS ****ING AYE! ...... I cant really differentiate between them, due to the fact that l being a predominant maynard fan just love his works ... but if l was to say which one floated my boat most it would deffinately be APC .... Progressive metal rocks .... l just love the issues dealt with wihtin their music, many critics scrutinise both APC and TOOL, over the 'alledged' antagonist approach and hate evident within their music, not understanding the true nature of the songs and what they are striving to achieve.... l'm so dying to see em in concert ! so unique, so beautiful .... BLOODY hot l'd actually say .. although most would wonder why :P

Merkaba 05-25-2005 03:04 AM

Has anyone ever noticed how similar The Package...track 1 for 13th step...and The Patient from Lateralus sound? The more i listen to The patient the more it reminds me of The Package. The intro's are both very similar and the last minute or so is very similar too. And the middles are somewhat heavy in both songs too

PopIsDead 05-25-2005 03:04 PM

I would have to say that Tool is the better band because they are heavier and darker than APC.

stonedpath 05-25-2005 03:52 PM

tool is for ****n wusses who cry a lot!

Static-Fear-Shot 05-25-2005 05:27 PM

APC ....end of question ! :) imo

ish 05-25-2005 05:52 PM

Definately A Perfect Circle is better, they have better songs. They know alot about music whereas Tool have similar songs through all their albums.

ILoveElias 05-26-2005 07:30 PM

That's the whole point. TOOL is not for the weak minded, or for those who either can't, don't, or won't have the time to sit and contemplate life in this ****ed up world. APC is actually doing the same thing, just kind of giving a more feminen view point. I think one is just as good as the other, and both are innovative, and incredibly talented. MAYNARD said himself that TOOL is his masculine side, and APC is his feminen side.

My ex-girlfriend put me onto Tool about three years ago, and we travelled down to London to see them. I love their whole approach to music, from the covers and artwork to the videos, which are among some of the best I think there's ever been (another thread in itself). But the music is sometimes just too dense for me. I can't put it on and relax to it, it's very difficult to do. A Perfect Circle on the other hand, sure the whole approach isn't as innovative and exciting, but again they put on a wonderful live show and as a whole their two albums have been incredibly easy to get into.

What do others think?

ish 05-26-2005 07:49 PM

I don't have to be listening to music like TOOL to reliase how f***ed up this like is, it can take any type of music to do that to my mind. Tool isn't the only band that sings about that sort of s***, same with APC, many other bands have a better point of view than those do.

ish 05-28-2005 10:52 AM

MAYNARD IS A F***ING GENIUS, in both Tool and APC, doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, in my opinion both bands are good (APC possibly better) and Maynard is the reason for their greatness

suicide? archery? hmmmmmm no. im no goth or hobo and even i know better than that. If you were to name your favourite bands im sure i could pick out darker more meaningless suicidal stuff than Tool have ever composed. Unless you like ur music on the medium rare side and still listen to arms wide open by creed.

Merkaba 05-29-2005 01:03 AM

It's a beautiful voice he has aye, even when he guest vocals for other bands live he pulls his part off as if he was the actual vocalist. When he backed for Alice N Chains or Rage etc

Static-Fear-Shot 05-29-2005 11:31 PM

NO DOUBT .. 110% SURE..... A DEFFINATIVE ............ genius! .. maynard is the next wave!

ish 05-29-2005 11:32 PM

Next wave of what?? lol Yeah He's super smart and sexy!!

SATCHMO 05-29-2005 11:35 PM

I think he's definitely both. I don't listen to a lot of Tool or APC, but I totally respect his creative genius.

Static-Fear-Shot 05-29-2005 11:37 PM

Oh my god .. you actually sound like a human being .. l gather you borrowed somebodys ladder and got over your angst .... well good for you *pats on back*:)

ish 05-29-2005 11:40 PM

Stop being a smart @$$ SFS, he has a point alot of people don't listen to either band but no question about it Maynard is pure genius
