The Floyd.
Queen do have prog elements. And they have some stuff that can difinetely be considered prog. But a lot of the stuff they are really known for is more along the lines of pop, and they were not really one of the bands that defined the genre. Last edited by boo boo; 08-19-2007 at 06:41 PM. |

I'd categorize them with Yes as Symphonic Pop.

Symphonic POP? Don't believe I have even heard that term before.
I think you meant Symphonic Prog. And that being said I certainly wouldn't consider Queen to be Symphonic Prog. In the prog ed thread I have them listed under art rock. Which is the term proggies use for bands that are considered by some to be prog but don't fall under any other prog category. |

Sorry, yah I meant Symphonic-Prog with a poppy side. I suppose they don't fit into any one category of prog, but if you have to classify them beyond prog them they're definetaly Symphonic-Prog.

ELP and Rush? My least favorite of all the famous bands from the classic prog era.
