its really har dot choose i think
you would have to give each person credit
they were both amazing
they were just amazing on different things
the fct that syd did depart from the band
made things completely different
he could have contined to be good or have quickly taken the band downhill
seeing that the band wrot esongs purely about syd and for syd

also i would say david gilmore
i agree that roger waters did write most of the material on DSOTM
but david gilmore was the vocals on most of the tracks

I'm jumping on the Gilmour bandwagon, too. You think about the most memorable Floyd tunes when Gilmour and Waters were the two principal writers, and Gilmour was usually involved. As cliche' as it is, Comfortably Numb is one of the best... and Gilmour co-wrote it, and his guitar is what pushes it over the top.
