Or at least it was until the 80s when they got even worse.

Oh c'mon.... I think Warrior On The Edge Of Time is awesome, i'd say it's their best studio album.
 X In Search Of Space and Hall Of The Mountain Grill are more popular though.

I think it`s alright personally.But then again I must be the only person who likes their P.X.R.5 album
I was just shocked at how hated it was amongst long time Hawkwind fans

Well, i don't really associate myself with long term or purist fans... I'm a neutral kind of fan, no matter what band it is, i'm not a guy who posts all day on fansites or anything like that.
For example... Meddle is one of the least liked Floyd albums, and hell, thats one of my personal favorites.

First Pink Floyd album I ever owned apart from Piper I even made a thread about it a while back
