Very well done. That's brilliant.
I think you should mention that no-one is allowed to comment on Queen's classification until they've heard more than the greatest hits. Otherwise, I know there will be retarded people jumping on and claiming that Queen is a pop band because of Another One Bites the Dust and Radio Ga Ga. |

This has actually helped me out a lot .... me being a guy who is very interested and loves the Genre of Prog and all of its Sub-Genres ... ... My favourites are Jethro Tull, KingCrimson, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Symphony X, Muse, YES, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, and Rhapsody...their may be some in which i had forgotten but those are some of my favourites

Is Coheed and Cambria really proggy? Or just the last album?
And no ATDI? :( |
I only have a few suggestions, such as that you might want to mention Birdsongs of the Mesozoic under avant-prog, because they seem to typify that genre better than a couple of the bands you mentioned. Also, Slint is a really important Math Rock band, so you probably don't want to leave them out.
A great read, a little biased towards punk (you don't shed light on the other side of the argument, being that progressive rock was pompous and self-indulgent), but overall a great overview. |
