Why is Omar being such a doucheface? I wanted to see TMV on there last tour but I was sure they'd be back on another go, had no idea they were on a hiatus. He gets bored with his own **** so easily, and just picks up whatever scraps he can.

I'm not really digging the track, it just sounds like modern pop with new wave'ish vocals. I want to like it but it's too bland. Looking forward to hearing Cedric's album though.

well apparently the Hiatus was bull**** and they are straight broken up.

twitter quotes from Cedric:

"Thank u 2 all VOLTA fans u deserved more especially after the way u rooted for us on this album. I tried my hardest to keep it going But Bosnian Rainbows was what we all got instead. I can't sit here and pretend any more. I no longer am a member of Mars Volta."

" I honestly thank all of you for buying our records and coming to our shows. You guys were a blast to play in front of "

"For the record I tried my hardest to get a full scale North American tour going for Noctourniquet but Omar did not want to."

"All I can do is move forward with my music and just be happy that mars volta ever happened at all. God Damn we had a blast. Thank u again"

" I just feel really guilty for not even really saying the truth because a hiatus is just an insult to the fans "

" And no I'm not joking about any of this, I owe it 2 u guys to all fans to be serious about this "

Pretty upset about this personally A. because I loved the new direction they were going and B. because the Bosnian Rainbows song sucks. Hopefully Cedric's solo album is good.

I'm almost ****ing crying, **** **** ****, there goes another band on my bucketlist. Had to go see for myself to see if it was true.

"For the record I tried my hardest to get a full scale North American tour going for Noctourniquet but Omar did not want to."

This kills me, but he says it best, be happy the mars volta ever happened at all.

Pretty much agree with you here, not saying the latest TMV was my favorite but I liked each and every album they put out. The Bosnian Rainbows track does suck and doesn't give me much hope for the album. A bit skeptical of an acoustic effort from Cedric but I did enjoy Octahedron so who knows. These guys are still young, there's hope for good stuff in the future. And if not, they put out a solid catalog for us to enjoy.

Deloused in the comatorium changed my life in high school. It made me who I am today and I still consider it my favorite album of all time. My username is a Volta lyric. I'm sad. Thanks boys. Those crippled jets finally hit the ground.

While I'm bummed that I'll never get to see them in concert, they did give me three of my favorite albums ever, so goodnight pretentious princes.

Some hints are in the link and quotes I posted above. Basically, it seems Omar exerted too much of his prog energy in his endless solo releases, and is now more interested in that awful-sounding Bosnian Rainbows project. He also didn't want to tour for the latest TMV album, while Cedric did and feels it's important for the group and fans.

However, I don't know that there's been any confirmation from Omar that he is on board with the break-up.

I'm not impressed with the song, probably mostly because the female singer's voice doesn't appeal to me. It's otherwise a pretty straight-forward song, a bit weird for Omar right now. The album is done and they plan to release it later this year.

But there are some other interesting tidbits in the article:
Wow, I liked it. Nice to hear a transition from an epic progressive band to a sorta proto-punk band with a chick singer. I dig
