^ RIP Keith and Greg. As much as I love Emerson, I think Palmer's drumming and Lake's Alembic really make this. Such virtuoso musicians - even in the freezing cold.

I always got a Chariots of Fire/Olympian-ish vibe from it for some reason. I never really paid much attention to ELP when I was younger though and they're just coming under my radar lately, right along with J Geils and Joe Walsh. I was always preoccupied with guitar oriented music and had some serious musical blinders on.

Some artists are turning up in this thread that I wouldn't have expected - Nina Simone, Van Morrison, ELP - and yes, it's not that often that you see musicians so wrapped up against the cold is it, ribbons? Perhaps the cold weather was the reason for such a poor turn-out at their concert ;)

Here are a couple of songs that I find to be irresistibly cheerful. One of them even tells you so in the title, so it must be on-topic at least. On the other hand, the thread says "feel good" and perhaps "happy" and "feel good" aren't exactly synonyms; feel good can be mellow too, but happy is always cheerful - or is it?(*retires in confusion*)

Well, Keith Emerson was the Jimi Hendrix of keyboards so you weren’t that far off the mark there. I’ve always loved ELP and distinctly remember obsessively learning parts of Tarkus on our family’s console organ.

Listening to Jeff Beck and Joe Walsh are always good things to be preoccupied with. ;)

 Yes - and looks like Keith may have swapped his Hammond B3 for a B3 bomber jacket.

Great picks with Dr. John's "Iko Iko" and Ry's "We Shall Be Happy". Love both those albums, too (Gumbo and Jazz).

And since "feel good" can be "mellow" as you say, this one comes to mind:
