agreed!
so we gotta go for the exceptions in this rule. i got a great one in mind but i ll start with the second that came to my mind:
would you call this a duet? (i m not sure.)
its Aesop with K. Dawson

^ Hey, ziggywas, haven't seen you for a while! I hope all is well with you.

I didn't recognise a single name or title on your duet, so I had no idea what to expect, and discovered an unusual song. Nice.

Here's an old favorite of mine, though not a boy/girl duet:-

Charo Bogarin, of the duo "Tonolec" from Argentina, with singer-songwriter Malena Muyala from Uruguay, playing the song "Pasos" by Malena Muyala...

Prolapse had two vocalists, one male one female.
also the two vocalists were romantically involved so i guess there were tensions.
a pretty good thing to do about tensions is a song i guess, so here's maybe the best "duet" i can think of:

Bobby Womack and Lana Del Rey

My favourite duets are:

Although I'm sure there're many more great collaborations.

Some nice pop duets there, Eleanor. I especially like Ebony and Ivory which does something worthwhile that music is always capable of, but doesn't necessarily do: send a message and example of racial tolerance.

Here's one of the most famous duets of the 60s. Like so much pop, it's a rather manufactured commodity and looking at it today I wondered, what exactly is the product Sonny and Cher are offering ?

Answer, imo: buy into a hippy fairy tale about two good-looking lovers, united in rejecting convention and living in blissful poverty. I feel that they, and the entire audience should be wearing rose-coloured spectacles.
