I really can't offer any lists, since as I say pop for me was pretty much something I looked down my nose at when a teen/young adult and since I got into prog, metal, AOR etc I've given it a little more appreciation but in general know next to nothing about what goes where. So I'll just sit back and listen to albums as they come up and vote but I'm afraid I won't be any help compiling lists.

On the bright side, there won't be any "that's-not-a-rock-opera!" style fumes and rants like over at the other thread. ;)

I would suggest though Goofle seeing if you can drag in the pop princess on this. I reckon MissPopTart would be a very valuable and knowledgeable resource to have.

I'll try to make one or two more lists. Feeling burnt out from all the ones I've been doing recently though.

Country-Pop

Taylor Swift- Fearless
Toby Keith- Unleashed
Zac Brown Band- The Foundation
Carrie Underwood- Some Hearts
Garth Brooks- Man Against Machine
Rehab- Graffiti the World
Brad Paisley- Wheelhouse
Florida Georgia Line- Here's to the Good Times
Eric Church- Chief
Blake Shelton- Based on a True Story

Emo-Pop

My Chemical Romance- The Black Parade
Jimmy Eat World- Bleed American
Fall Out Boy- Under the Cork Tree
Dashboard Confessional- The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most
Saves the Day- Through Being Cool
All American Rejects- Move Along
Taking Back Sunday- Tell All Your Friends
Blink-182- blink-182 (2003 S/T)
Say Anything- ...Is a Real Boy
The Used- The Used

Now that I think about it some of these are actually decent. Jimmy, TBS, Saves the Day, and Blink in particular. The rest, not so much.

Just curious: Are Blink-182 really considered emo in any way? I'm neither into punk (at least any more), nor into emo, but I always though they were typical pop-punk.

No. That particular album is though.

Everyone wants to be me.

JGuy Grungeman 01-18-2016 07:48 PM

At least, everyone in their wrong minds.

Goofle 01-19-2016 01:38 AM

Let's say we agree on Psychedelic Pop, what would we change about JGuy's list?

1. Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
2. Love - Forever Changes m
3. Bee Gees - 1st
4. Beach Boys - Surf's Up
5. Zombies - Odyssey and Oracle
6. Monkees - Headquarters
7. Kaleidoscope - Tangerine Dream
8. Donovan - Mellow Yellow
9. The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
10. The Kinks - Something Else by the Kinks

Personally I would add an Animal Collective (MPP probably fits the bill most) and of Montreal album to rep this millennium. Probably Congratulations by MGMT as well if I'm greedy.

Tristan_Geoff 01-19-2016 09:08 AM

Well, can't Animal Collective and of Montreal fit in Avant-Pop, and MGMT in alt-pop?
