Default annoying

i hate how pop songs basically all sing about one thing....love and how a women empowers a man to be "stonger" but never actually says how. if a man is empowered to be better because of the women in his life please explain why id like to think its based on something less superficial than her looks but they never clarify beyond that.

It's all bull****. Here's the truth about making yourself a better person in pop music form, if that's your vehicle for communication:

Not even gonna lie. I get a little misty when I hear this.

Isn't simplicity kind of the point and very essence of pop? If you're seeking something more dichotomatic and authentic, you're probably in the wrong genre. Plankton knows his way around here; he can give you directions.

The only "essence of pop" is that it's popular. Could be anything.

What you say is 100% true and proves my point... In order for something to be "popular" it has to appeal to the masses... The more intricate something is (either lyrically or musically), the smaller the audience that can relate to it.

That definitely seems to be the trend, but I don't think it's necessarily the rule. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, though.

^ This is what i expect from pop music.

I expect pop to be superficial and with a simple message, good lyrical content comes 2nd to a good beat. generic mainstream pop does bother me a little or rather should i say it doesn't fulfill me but at the same time i don't need pop music to get all deep on me that's something i expect more out of folk music.
