Default Favorite Hits Of 2014 So Far?

Okay, I don't know about you, but I feel that 2014 has been an absolutely ****ty year so far for Top 40 radio. No doubt there has been some great music this year, but most of it falls outside the spectrum of the Billboard Hot 100. The garbage within that spectrum include Fancy by Iggy Azalea, Fireball by Pitbull, and Turn Down For What (I'll admit, I thought it was decent at first, but it got old fast). Saying that, there is some great Top 40 music from this year. Here are a few songs that I've really been enjoying lately.

Meghan Trainor- All About That Bass

This song has been quite the controversial tune ever since becoming popular, with many people accusing it of skinny shaming. But I love this song. This song isn't saying "I hate thin girls." It's saying that you should love who you are no matter what you look like. It has a positive message and I like that. Musically, it's a very catchy throwback to the '50s. This song is pure manna for those sick and tired of ****ty EDM (not saying all EDM is ****ty) and Hip Hop (I love Hip Hop, for the record, just the crap that they play on the radio is garbage) tracks dominating the charts this year.

Magic!- Rude

Okay, I know this song has been criticized by some for not having the best lyrics, but so what, I say. The song is catchy as hell, and the Pop Reggae fusion works well. I think it's a really good love song, myself.

Sam Smith- Stay With Me

This is another controversial song. The reason for the controversy this time is because Sam Smith is gay, and this song is about another man. Really though, who the **** cares? It's a beautiful song, whether it's about another man or not. The emotion feels real and the music is melodic. I'd love this song even if he was singing about a walrus.

I didn't know Sam Smith was gay. I mean, I have had the thought because of how he speaks (I know I know) but yeah, it makes no difference. Nice song.

(I actually only like it because of the producers)

Some other radio tunes I like from this year:

Lana Del Rey - "West Coast"
Paloma Faith - "Only Love Can Hurt Like This" / "Can't Rely On You"
Pharrell Williams - "Happy"
Clean Bandit - "Rather Be"
Katy B - "Crying for No Reason"
Kylie Minogue - "Into the Blue"

That was a pop song? I was under the impression that that was her take on your typical "I'm awesome look at me and my money" type of song that mainstream Hip Hop has been known for in recent years.

To remain on topic, I'm gonna agree with Goofle about Pharrell's "Happy". The man's a genius.

Play the game OP, 2014 has not been a bad year for pop music at all. I also like 'Fancy' and I second the song Benteke added.
