I don't think it's common for mainstream pop artists to have put 10 years on the underground circuit in first.
If Bieber had, he'd have had to have started his music career around the same time he started education.
As for One Direction, they participated in a talent contest where the prize was a recording contract.
Not exactly hard to see how they got into the industry.

Generally yeah (lol'd at some of Manky's criteria, very accurate), chav is a term used to beat the poor with though. It just promotes classism imo. Not good.
