GB's don't say much since the quality of my music varies greatly. Most things are below 320 kbps.
Let's see...My Library is 114,19 GB now. I have 285 Artists, 1.874 albums/ep's(keep in mind, there's a few that I put in there that I don't own just to show the full studio discography, so the number is inaccurate), and 22.609 tracks. If I were to listen to all of them(and since the albums I don't own are from 11 second files this will be more accurate, but keep in mind some albums last tracks have filler of nothing to make hidden tracks hidden) I'd have to listen non stop for 50 days, 21 hours and 47 minutes. geez. Ofcourse, I'll never listen to everything. I just like seeing a complete studio library of the artist. I used to force myself to listen to all albums of an artist(unless 1 sucked really hard), but now I just listen to what I want to listen to and get new artists regardless of finishing everything. I tried correctly tagging the important tags of all of these albums, That includes album art. The only thing that"s really ****ed up is the Genre Tag. My music player allows for multiple genres, but than I'd have to write down all genres of each album. That'd take ages. With folder view I have maps of all artists, than the album names, than in the albums track name-song name. For some I have all albums numbered on order and the year at the end. but it'd take way too long to do it for all of them, so I'm sloowly doing that. Another problem with my tagging is that there's plenty of albums with not properly capitalized names(sometimes each word has a capital letter), but honestly I don't care, it'd be too much work to find and fix all of them for something so insignificant. You can guess in what way I´ve got 99% of these digital albums. Last edited by Dylstew; 06-01-2014 at 07:32 AM. |

Argh, you're all so lucky. I have a lot more music than all my friends, but practically nothing compared to all of you. I have 14GB right now, however, I normally opt for the highest quality file I can download (my boyfriend made me into a quality freak). Only 1,483+ (some aren't in itunes) songs, 82 artists, etc. I have almost no space left on my laptop, and I've had to go through and delete programs I don't need in order to make room for music.
I'm not going to count the CD albums I have - they're all my parents, really, and they would take far too long to count. I don't own any vinyl, as I have nothing to play it on. But I would like to get a record player eventually. I knew I loved music before, but I really only started collecting it a few months ago. 99% of my collection is downloaded, and 90% of it has been downloaded in the past few months. (keep in mind, I'm in my mid teens) For those of you who collect music on your computers/laptops, how do you get it? Do you buy everything you own, or download it? |

I had posted mine back in the thread link shown earlier..but once again:
I would say for a pretty close estimate: vinyl - 120 albums cassettes - 315 give or take around 10 cds - 5,000 computer/digital - around 200 gigs.. and holy moly..that's a vinyl treasure you have there rostasi..did you happen to inherit any other musicphiles collections in that or was that all picked up on your lonesome? |

^^gotcha. If I had been exposed to more musical styles and more importantly the means to acquire them earlier in my life I would have....probably still only a third of that, lol!
*another question...anything in there that you haven't listened to as far as you know? I purposely keep a few surprises in mine just to keep my ears perked.... |

I'm young and stuff and just have a digital collection. I keep my metatags tidy, but it gets complicated with classical music, so qualifying things just in terms of number of artists is misleading at best. In terms of just the raw data, my personal music folder is 119 GB, and it has 17,795 files and 2,022 folders. I've cleaned house a few times and have been conservative about getting some music just because of space limitations, but I'll be getting an external HD at some point in the future to alleviate some of that. I've also only really been listening to music really seriously for... seven years or so? I'd love to have insane collections someday like some of you have.
