I know what school she goes to, technically I could meet her if i wanted to. I absolutely love her album. It's very obvious that her album is based on teenage experiences but I think she's incredibly talented. My favourite song is definitely Glory and Gore.

I love Lorde. Unfortunately though, I feel like she's the type of artist who will lose all her hype very quickly. Her biggest claim to fame is the "war" between her and Miley Cyrus. She's very talented, though.

My favourite song of hers isn't even from her album. It's 'Everybody Wants to Rule The World' off of the 'Catching Fire' soundtrack.

Yikes really? I feel like she did such a horrible job covering that song.

I'm a big Lorde fan but I can admit that she dropped the ball on that one.

I just watched her video for Royals again and this time I can only comment that she makes annoying movements.

I don't really like the song.

She is all over the hip hop stations, so it's kind of cool that someone so young penetrated that barrier. Her voice sounds the same in most of her songs on the album, as far as I could hear, so that's not too cool.

Also she was kind of annoying about the song "Come and Get It" by Selena Gomez. I don't know if anyone heard those interviews, but she was like "Omg a woman shouldn't act like that, but I love the song." She's young, but that's a really big statement to make, Idk.

She has said a lot more than just that. I read like a top 10 list of crazy stuff that she has said about other people but I'm able to separate an artist from their personal life/opinion. So I honestly don't care about that other stuff she says. I enjoy her album too much.

Same here! She does change her voice, and how is that even relevant? Most pop stars have relatively similar voice in their songs.

Lorde is always on the radio 'round where I'm living it seems, but I'm not quite sure what the hype's about other than the fact that she's still in high school and writes a lot of her own tunes. But I think the hype is less about her talent and more about the fact she's aiming for mainstream pop stardom as an "Adele-soundalike" or whatever: she's got nothing on Rosalie Cunningham of Purson, for instance, who also writes and performs all her own stuff despite barely being into her 20's.

With the rare exception now and then, I'd say its a general rule that the greater someone's exposure is across the mainstream market, the more watered down your sound has to be acceptable within whatever "style" the execs decide to group you in, and it's looking more and more likely that Lorde is only one step away from being played in grocery stores at this rate. xD

Still, I wish her the best and hope she can leverage her success as a way to get more interesting music into the Top 40 market. Lord knows (no pun intended) that we need it.

What she says has no effect on how much I love "Royals" but has every effect on whether I'm going to buy it or not.
