Default Question about Elton John's tessitura

What are the highest notes he reached without falsetto?

I have:

1. c5: Tiny Dancer: Hold ***ME CLOSE**r Tiny Dancer

2. c#5: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: singing the *BLUE*-ue-ues

Are you talking about before or after his castrato surgical procedure?

Up until 1986, he had a high tenor voice and also used a famous falsetto. After having surgery on his throat in 1986, his voice range lowered to baritone and lost his falsetto.

Elton nailed clean notes, strong C#5's with Bb4's. (Live in Munich : 5/22/1984). The European Express Tour. The European leg of Elton's 1984 'Breaking Hearts' Tour.

Default A Voice Of Choice?

I've always thought that Elton John has a rather plain, average voice, not particularly powerful or beautiful, but his really makes the most of it, and squeezes every available nuance of expression out of it using his strong will and determination combined with his consummate musicianship, perfect pitch, and stylish clever phrasing.
