To me Madonna is "better" than GaGa as I don't feel that GaGa has been able to be half as versatile as Madonna has been musically. Obviously Madonna has had way more time to be versatile, but considering that GaGa is musically much more talented than Madonna I don't think she has created THAT amazing music. Her music is in fact quite generic. Also Madonna's later work like Bed Time Stories, Ray of Light and Confessions are timeless and really, really high quality pop music. That said, Madonna has also done a lot of bad albums...

I've seen Madonna live a few times and I've seen GaGa live once. I don't especially enjoy either one of them live. Madonna was surprisingly aggressive and simply didn't come off like a nice person. I actually felt very irritated by the end of the two concerts (Confessions tour and Sticky&Sweet). GaGa was overly dramatic and was almost a bit cheesy with her constant "you are not alone my little Monsters" babble (MonstersBall tour).

I've always preferred live performers like Kylie Minogue who's shows are feel good and who comes off genuine and nice. I've seen her live a few times and she always seems very fun and cheeky in a way I enjoy at concerts.
