Lana Del Rey says Radiohead are suing her.

Depression, boredom and anxiety should sue Radiohead.

Getting sued by Radiohead? Well, that's just unfortunate :(

She'll be like I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo, what the hell am I doing here, I don't belong here.

Listened to NFR earlier. Not that impressed but I'll give it another go as I was distracted.
Of the two albums we were discussing in Billie Eilish's thread, Billie's is the masterpiece. |
So I am going to be honest. When I first heard about her in 2012, and was seeing all this hype around her, it made me not want to give her a chance. (There is just something about seeing an artist everywhere that makes me want nothing to do with them.) Then, one day my friend was playing her on his computer...and I immediately fell in love. I love her so much. 'Born To Die' is easily one of my favorite albums - 'Radio' is one of my favorite songs. Both she, and her voice are so beautiful.

A few days ago I was reading a critical piece in the Guaradian that somehow made it out that her original post was racist and I absolutely couldn't believe how anyone could read it as that and then I read this and it seems like plenty of other people have?? So bizarre, even before reading Lana's "defense" it was so very crystal clear to me she was mentioning the artists she mentioned as a positive example of women singing about whatever the fuck they want and it just so happens that most of the top female artists today are women of colour. How on earth did that turn into a racism row?? And also from the Guardian, Jesus. It must be exhausting being a celebrity. :/ |
It's pretty blatantly racist dawg. "Why can these dirty black whores shake their asses with zero criticism [sic] while a luxurious, glamorous, classy white woman like myself can't sing about my relationships without getting universal support?"
The self-centredness and seeming lack of self-awareness surrounding her post is more annoying than any potential racism. An artist at her level should know that critics ain't **** and that she's giving them more attention than they ever would have by being overly defensive and turning this into a thing. |
I've always suspected that she's not very bright. Where is her publicist? With each rambling statement she just dug herself deeper into a hole. "advocacy for fragility"??? I'm assuming she's just upset over a handful of reviewers rightfully questioning (I mean, Lana is now in her 30s, so the whole "help me I'm a sexy baby" schtick is getting old and weird) some of her more cringey lyrics. She barely does any promo and isn't a very good live performer, yet she is still doing extremely well and received praise and accolades for her last album so what is the issue? (And why on earth would she drag FKA Twigs into this-- Lana, you merely leaned against a pole in a music video for the ~aesthetic, you are not a trained dancer like Twigs) And I wish she'd pick up a book and read some Andrea Dworkin or something. She seems to confuse actual feminism with like internet Buzzfeed pop-feminism.

Actually, I didn't go too deep into this discussion but it seemed to me she was reacting to criticism of her music as being anti-feminist, which is why she felt the need to explain that there should be space also for women like her to sign about whatever they feel like without being accused of setting back the movement. Which I think is correct, is all...:/

I think she just released a book.
|
So Chemtrails didn't make a big splash I think and now she's got another one coming out. Let's see if that one is better. Didn't think much of the first one myself to be honest.

I first heard Chemtrails and loved it...
this one is part of a posting I made on another general forum.. Lyrics: Here’s the deal 'Cause I know you wanna talk about it Here’s the deal I promise you, like, a million tomorrows Here’s the deal What I can promise is I’ll lie down Like a bed of wildflowers And I’ll always make the sheets Smell like gardenias wild at your feet And I nourish you hazily Baby, I, I, I, I’ve been runnin’ on stardust Alone for so long I wouldn’t know what hot fire was Hot fire, hot weather, hot coffee I’m better with you It’s strange, but it’s true, darling Not to turn into a wildfire To light up your night With only my smile and nothing that burns Baby, I’ll be like a wildflower I live on sheer willpower I’ll do my best never to turn into something That burns, burns, burns Like the others, baby, burns, burns, burns Here’s the deal 'Cause I know you wanna talk about it Here’s the deal You say there’s gaps to fill in, so here Here’s the deal My father never stepped in when his wife would rage at me So I ended up awkward but sweet Later then hospitals, and still on my feet Comfortably numb, but with lithium came poetry And baby, I, I’ve been running on star drip IV’s for so long I wouldn’t know how cruel the world was Hot fire, hot weather, hot coffee, I’m better So I turn, but I learn (It from you, babe) Not to turn into a wildfire To light up your night With only my smile and nothing that hurts Baby, I run like a wildflower I live on sheer willpower I promise that nothing will burn you Nothing will burn, burn, burn Like the others, baby, burns, burns, burns Burn, burn, burn (Like the others, baby) Like the others, baby, burns, burns, burns It’s you from whom I learn, learn, learn It’s you from whom I learn, learn, learn What is not to like..mostly bad gossip.. ..causes 'worser' bad gossip.... |

What about Blue banisters?
Melodically I feel like she's on a downward spiral. She had a great run but it was bound to happen one day. |
I enjoyed listening to it, depends on your expectations and mood as well.
I use to really dislike say, Liam Gallagher, and now he has grown up a tad I find him ok. Musically he is at his best right now. If you're looking for something different from an artist, often just go and find some newbie who might be more fresh.... |

Don't think it can beat it as Chemtrails is a great fantasy build up, the way it leads you up the garden path and explodes into a whole new meaning..it was that bite of the apple that done it... lol Have a Beaut of a Day here, the sky is a brilliant blue and the sun came up early and although was only 6 degrees the Sun made it for me.... |
Lacks some Videos on Blue Bannisters..from what I have seen
like these clever use of the lyrics... this one with her featuring in it...makes it better. sleepy song though. |
