Who else is an old fart like me and loves this band :p: As far as my list of reasons why the 90s were awesome goes, they clock in just behind being able to smoke in pubs and the like.

Truth be told, only a couple of these guys' albums are consistently good throughout, namely Choke and Quench. I remember this mob being all over the radio just over a decade ago here in the UK. Either way, it's pop music as pop music should be for me. Beautifully sung, great melodies, choruses that are so catchy they should be illegal (the first two songs I'll post here in particular).

Just purchased Welcome To. Great album!

I distinctly remember my older sister loving them when I was about 9 or something. Their songs have been firmly lodged in my subconscious for 15 years now, so they obviously did something right.

It's a pretty cool album, but I do prefer their 90s work though, as in when they brought in Briana Corrigan and then Jackie Abbott to take up the vocals with Paul Heaton - the way they play off each other is just grand.

Of all people, it was my old boss who reintroduced me to them last summer. Before that I hadn't heard a note of them since I last heard them on the radio back in the late 90s. Needless to say, it all came flooding back soon enough.

I remember them. Used to listen to them all the time when I was little. Very soothing music.

Yeah, it's quite something.

The lyrics are another thing that really get me with this band. A Little Time for instance is probably the best breakup lyric I've ever come across.

Used them on my mock radio show, which was parodying local radio stations and unbearable morning DJ's

Here's the segway (said in the campest of voices)

And a Happy 50th Birthday to Bob Carswell* the years may be rolling by, but you're still a perfect 10.

*Arse across the street that runs a Valeting Service.

Quench is a fantastic Pop album and the lyrics to Perfect 10 are sublime. Talk about subversive! Black Box Recorder are another classy sounding Pop band with similar aesthetics.
