McCartney is obviously nowhere near as good as Mozart, Bach or Beethoven. But then neither is Bowie.

I never mentioned Ringo Starr.

I don't like the melody of China Girl so much. I do like Blue Jean and Let's Dance from the 80s though. I like Changes too. But I just think I've found his albums not so great in the past as some people say.

Apart from some songs off "Lets Dance" and some songs off albums like "Heathen" etc. Bowie hasn`t really done anything worthwhile since the Berlin Trilogy and "Scary Monsters" and that`s like 30 years ago!

Outside has two very good songs in "A Small Plot of Land" and "Hallo Spaceboy" The last sounds like a bit of a cut and paste job from earlier Bowie songs but still sounds good.

You seem determined to go on about McCartney and the Beatles for some reason, maybe we should talk about Mick Jagger`s solo stuff.........now that is amusing

Agreed. It is a ridiculously under rated album. Best thing he has done for years.

The real king of Pop was and is Ray Davies anyhow.

Why? I'm not claiming Jagger's solo stuff is any good.
I just want to know what McCartney's released over the past 30 years that eclipses anything Bowie's done.

....and I never claimed McCartney`s solo stuff to be any good either, looks like we agree.

If you look at the original post, you`ll see I never claimed that any one of them to be any good outside of their golden eras anyway! Whether Bowie has some better songs than McCartney is largely irrelevant, as we have artists here that are largely living off their previous reputations and have been spent creatively for like 3 decades now.

Ray Davies is one of the best. Along with some others like Brian Wilson, Paul Simon, McCartney, Bacharach, Webb, Jobim.
