Burn is being played non stop in England. Listen to BBC Radio 1 and you will hear this at least 5 times in one day, no problem. Also while I'm in here they keep playing that Miley Cyrus song. It is catchy. but it's laughably bad. Heard it today and just lol'd at how bad it was but I've listened again and it's suck in my head now. Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop - YouTube I think I like it . EDIT - Not sure if it was appropriate to start discussions about other artists in specific artist threads. If I get infracted or banned I will take the punishment cos I'm real like that . |

Doing 10 hour shifts at work with a radio, I have a fairly decent idea of the songs in pretty heavy circulation on Radio 1 which is the UK's biggest national station, to the best of my knowledge they are;
One Direction - Best Song Ever: Pretty catchy and upbeat, find myself digging this one quite a bit. Ellie Goulding - Burn: First song of hers I actually quite like, her voice usually irks me. The production on this is great also Miley Cyrus -We Can't Stop: Undoubtedly dumb but fun/catchy Jay-Z & Justin Timberlake - Holy Grail: I really like JT's hook on this song, but I could do without the Smells Like Teen Spirit bridge and this isn't some of Jay's best bars. Bastille - Pompeii - I fear this song will never go away. It's just so f*cking annoying and I've been sick of it since Christmas, it's the track that just won't disappear. Passenger - Let Her Go: Sounds like Ed Sheeran, and alike Ed Sheeran is unnecessarily ear grating and whiny. Horrible song. Avicii - Wake Me Up: Don't like the vocals on this at all, feels like it's trying to sell me on southern USA grocery product. Bad mix of country and electro with one of the most pointless breakdowns I've heard on a track Rizzle Kicks - Lost Generation: Sounds like every other song they've brought out. Very limited group. There's probably more, but those are the ones I'm hearing the most. |

probably because it fits the theme of late summer pretty well. There's a bunch of musical festivals and events that are bringing in the last few days of the season, and this song kind of embodies the last etchings of the summer party atmosphere before the schools/colleges/unis are back in session and normality resumes.
Also, it's in several movies and people who aren't radio listeners may have shown interest in the song I.E. via Itunes downloads/increased Youtube hits since it's been featured further increasing its popularity. Radio stations will strive to play what is popular at the present time. |

As for Ellie Goulding, Burn is the only track I've heard but I'm surprised it's being so positively received tbh as I honestly lol'd when I first heard it, maybe it's cos it's on Radio 1 every hour. That hook must have took her the best part of 5 seconds to write. Track sounds like something you'd hear on one of those Clubland compilation CD's but I'm led to believe this is not her usual style. I dunno man, I think it's just cos I've heard so many of these Dance Pop type tracks before and cos of the hook I think this one is particularly bad. This one was OK considering what it was, should've got way more attention - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy7RGVyrhLw Wiki saying she makes dream pop. Can anyone point me to some? |
