Just because one person needs psychiatric help because he couldn't handle the fame that doesn't mean that everyone handles fame in the same way and WILL automatically need it.

The whole death threats thing is moot because it's just internet tough guys talking out of their ass and they won't ever do anything about it. Yes, she might feel bad/worried for a little bit but when she realizes that the internet has ALWAYS been like this then she'll get over it.

I don't condone death threats over the internet but it's not as big of a deal like you are making it out to be.

The only point I made about her celebrity in comparisons to the ones Ben Butler mentioned, were that they knew what they were in for by putting themselves in the spotlight, whereas Rebecca Black didnt (put herself there). I'm not arguing that she wont also have to deal with fame, and it may be semantics, but its still relevant that she doesnt have the same people behind her as these others so doesnt have the wealth of experience dealing with the fame.

I also said the comparison with Star Wars kid and his psychiatric issues were a possibility, not a definite. There is no way to gauge now how she will be affected long term by this, but as I said, its possible that it will affect her deeper than we realise right now.

You wearing an England kit because you want to be like the players is one thing, but if your parents paid way over the top price after being told that they could buy this super magic kit that'd make you the next Maradona, and they did, then they have been exploited.

Having said that, you're probably right. If I could afford something that my kids wanted, I'd almost certainly pay for it (within reason). But I'm still of the mindset that ARK are exploiting the dreams of young people to make a quick buck.

Did you miss the part where I said 'if'? You know, IF I could afford something that my kids wanted, then I'd probably pay for it for them. IF I couldnt, then I wouldnt.

The 'if' is very important though, how is it not!?

Lets say I have a child who wants something for £250 at the end of the month.

I earn £1000 a month, £500 of which goes on the monthly bills. I spend a further £200 during the month on the grocery shopping, another £100 on petrol, plus another £100 just on general stuff that my family and I need.

That all totals an expenditure of £900, leaving £100 for my child's thing. Obviously, I cant afford it right now. But three months down the line, with the same income and expenditure, all of a sudden I'd have £300 for my child's thing, and CAN afford to buy it for them.

Are you saying in this instance that you wouldnt buy the thing that your child wanted? (Within reason of course, as I said in the post quoted by pooka. I'm not advocating buying your child everything they ever ask for).

My post had my opinions in them and common sense. Yours didn't have any facts in them, just a pathetic overreaction to something completely blown out of proportion by the media.
