The problem with this statement is that it's not that funny.

A) It is a child.

B) As mentioned before it glorifies the justification of equally terrible music somehow being superior if it's created by adults, and mass marketed with random sexual imagery on random radio stations.

C) I used to grow up with tons of dumbass girls in high school who paid these ripoff studios to do the exact same thing. Doesn't justify it being such a ridiculous Internet trend.

D) She not only is getting death threats, but being ridiculously pranked, and hazed. Of course, she's going to find the same escape in that as she's pretty much locked as the next Justin Biebar.

E) How is this protesting vapid shallow music if millions laugh at it 'cause it's so bad it's funny' but do jack **** to support the artistic alternative.

F) ****ing Hell... Do we need another Rick Roll?

How so? Her point was to simulate a pop star, and make lots of money. That's what she did. I'm not complimenting her for it, I'm just saying how it's pathetic that the Internet community who are solely responsible for elevating her really have the right to play superior.

It's like a stripper. Sure, she's demeaning herself when you throw your dollars out there, but she walks home with your money. Who is the idiot?

Humour is subjective, what gives you the right to tell us what is or is not funny?

Is it really that funny? To me, it just sounds like anything I'd hear in a hair salon, or mall elevator. No better, no worse, no different.

Well, all the girls from Ark sing dumb pop songs, but none of them is as nearly as popular as Rebecca Black. Why? They all want to be pop stars; they all want the same thing Rebecca Black wants. Why is she more popular than them? She isn't even prettier. The answer is - her song is ultra retarded and people laugh at things like that. Things like that amuse them. She is a retard for not foreseeing this kind of negative publicity after just a glimpse at the lyrics

Exactly my point. She's getting massive amounts of fame for simply being "retarded" in a sea of other "retarded" girls doing the exact same thing.

You ever been in the presence of a teenage girl? A lot of them are like that. A lot of them want to be that. They don't know what it is, but they want to be it. It's sad enough when her parents have enough money to buy her into it. It's worse that these studio sleazes are making money off it. However, worst of all, that the sarcastic Internet community somehow turns this into a massive phenomenon over the fact she's basically acting exactly the large common populous of airheads.

After all, she's only in it for validation. The attention alone is validating her. Doesn't make her a retard, makes the community that makes a big deal out of her ridiculous.

If somebody walked up to you as a teenage girl and said. "Hey, sing this moronic song, and you'll be big, and famous. You'll hit the billboard charts, and the world will talk about you"... and then you do it, then you actual acquire that attention for any reason, does it make you retarded?

It's funny because of the lyrics and the awkwardness of the video. Who cares whether she's popular or not? There's always bad stuff in the charts and i'd rather see Rebecca Black in there than some other stuff. N Dubz anyone?

N Dubz is a guilty pleasure of mines. I like 'em.

As much as I hate this song, I can't stop watching the video on youtube.. and I actually find her kind of likeable, much more so than Ke$ha or Lady Gaga or whoever else she's been compared to in this thread.

Serious artist? not by a long shot. Something to keep the internet occupied for awhile and finally steer attention away from Charlie Sheen? Huge success.

Well, Charlie Sheen is funny, and does deserve it with record breaking freakish behavior, imo.
