Jessie J
So after some time I've really come to enjoy her track Do It Like A Dude. More so after her interview explaining what it was meant to mean. Which was, that she (and any women) are capable of achieving anything in life just as much as men. Her video for this track is sexy (without slutty) and very fierce.
I am not sure of her live singing voice, but she has been a back-up singer/songwriter for many other artists. She's just released the second single Price Tag which I'm still getting a feeling for. Oh and loving this song:

I like it but that whole theme about doing it like a guy or wishing females were a guy or w/e is so played out. I'm tired of hearing it. I will look into her discography and see what other songs she has though. Here is an example of the cliche theme she's singing about. Ladies, stop trying to be like a male and do everything we do. Sure you have the capability to do everything thing we can and maybe not as good as we do it but stick to what you know best.

Meh, we need a voice. Just because one artist does it, doesn't mean others can. It's all about sisterhood and being equal to men. Doesn't grow old in my books. But as a man I can imagine this would be irritating for you.

No, It's not irritating to me. It just seems like more and more are doing it. I mean we get it now. Of course you can do whatever a man does even though in the military we still don't really allow women to put themselves in harm by driving lead on convoys. I really doubt female need a voice. The progression that females have made over the years have spoken profoundly and I'm pretty sure everyone knows that women can do whatever a man can do whether they choose to believe it or not.

Price Tag is just a ridiculous song. It tries to rail against the greed of the music industry, but it uses the classic generic chord sequence the whole way through, uses daft throwaway lyrics (the 'everybody look to their left/right' bit as well as the detestable ching/bling rhyme) and is sung by a cut-and-paste girl-power puppet.
That and, for a song that claims it's not about the money, it's sure making them/her a lot of money. As for the 'women can do everything guys can', it's all well and good until someone needs a jam jar opened |
