I love both of them, but I prefer Beach Boys without any doubt. I like bands like these two 'cause they are really funny and have the power to make a sad person suddenly happy. And when it comes to this, no one is better than Beach Boys

It wasn't till 'All Summer Long' and especially 'Summer Days' that the boys really started making interesting albums and then, after Smile, they started getting very inconsistent again, thanks to Brian going nuts and Mike just being an *******. I don't know that either band was more influential than the other, but I do think the Beatles created the bigger and more diverse body of work. And yeah, I know the Beatles had their fare share of dross on their early albums too, but they weren't nearly as bad as the Beach Boys early lp's.

Brian actually denied that "Strawberry Fields Forever" incident in a Q&A with fans recently. But his memory must be pretty baked after all the acid, so it wouldn't surprise me if there's some truth to it. After all, the friend (name slips my mind now) gave a pretty detailed description of the event.
