The Beatles are cultural icons. Their music, fashion style, hair choice and countless other traits that define them are woven into our culture. They are beyond what the Beach Boys did on almost every level. Probably 90 % of the Beach Boy fans were lost in translation when it came to Smile, Sunflower, Holland and Surf's Up.

Upon listening to the Beach Boys they did revolutionize that surf sound and are a American institution when it comes to pop music so one could say they were just edged out by the Beatles slightly in my opinion.............

Are you just now listening to them, after marching up and down the thread swearing there wasn't a chance their music was better than the Beatles'?

He must have had a near death experience that changed his mind.

lol maybe. I'm starting to wonder if this might also be the cause of his complete denial of any innovation in contemporary music.

Do you mean is this the first time that I have listened to the Beach Boys?
If you notice I graded them a close second, but overall one must still go with the Beatles for the shear fact of what they have accomplished musically......
The boy band cute era, the Rubber Soul, Revolver era and moving into the Sgt. Pepper Magical Mystery era finally winding up their entire career with the White album, Let It Be and Abbey Road......No other band can lay claim to that amount of creativity in such a short time!

^I know that this is falling on dead ears but This Heat had more diversity and creativity in one album than The Beatles could have been in a thousand music careers.
