I think they really excelled at making fantastic songs, contrary to popular belief, and though I'd say I prefer more of their albums than what I've heard from the beach boys, I'd take three amazing beach boys albums over any Beatles album without a doubt.

And for consistency that goes for neil young too
And I'm being called daft.

And I know Taxman, I was kidding, they are not gods. And for the record I love the beach boys. The argument Is silly but I'm having fun with it.

What Beatles album can you really say is entirely perfect all the way through and sleep through the night without remorse? Be honest. Also, let me clarify that when I say truly outstanding I mean entirely perfect.

Taxdude, reactor was pretty rad tho

Talking about Neil Young, well, Everybody's Rockin' is kinda awful? My dad has a copy of it (he's a big rockabilly fan) and I remember when I was getting into Neil and I put it on when I found it and I was like"uuhh,,so this is what a Neil Young album sounds like?"

Well, actually lets think. Rubber Soul has Wait & Run For Your Life which are fillers, Revolver...well, I really can't find any mistakes, but Doctor Robert is kinda decent song. Pepper, well, there's no real weak spots, I think so. Maybe, could Lovely Rita be abit weaker? White Album has Wild Honey Pie and Revolution #9...what about Magical Mystery Tour? It has no fillers but is it considered as an,album cos the other half is filled with singles?
Abbey Road may be the best. It has no weak spots.

Pet Sounds has Let's Run,Away For awhile which is weak. And it is pretty monotonous record with not many moods, unlike Beatles albums. And Smile, well, Fire is kinda stupid, ain't it? And Love To Say Da-Da is overlong and repetive. But comparing those excellent albums is hard cos the weak spots, if they are here at all,are still great.

Sgt Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band. It's got everything anybody could want with The Beatles. In my own opinion of course.

Their albums from Revolver to Abbey Road have got so few minor spots it's incredible. Pepper is great too, sadly it seems, like always with popular classic albums, that it has became trendy to put it down.

"Fire"? "Love To Say Da-Da"? What version of Smile are you listening to?

I'm not really sure that's a fair way to judge it as an album, since it really isn't one. Have you heard the Brian Wilson recording of Smile?

Of course I have. But I prefer original tapes, even if they are not as consistent, for two reasons: As good as The Wondermints are, they cannot sing as beautifully as the original Beach Boys did and Brian's voice is not as good as it used to be.
That 2004 release is great, of course, and I own it, and it helped me to get a picture how Smile was meant to be, but I prefer Smile Sessions for the reasons explained above and I listen to it more frequently. Also it serves as some kind of historical document and it's more interesting because of that.

That may all be true. I'm just saying you can't really judge The Smile Sessions the way you'd judge an actual album like, say, Pet Sounds or the Brian Wilson release of Smile.
