get the pre-Today albums

they're mostly rock n roll albums

edit - also, Carl & The Passions' So Tough is a blues-rock album

The beatles just rocked a hell of a lot harder than the beach boys. The beach boys bore me a lot. But they have some great songs, I can't deny. I just think the beatles brought more energy and brought more everything to the table.

And I will defend the claim that the beach boys don't have guitars In their songs. Just listen to the song pet sounds. Thats an epic instrumental.

I did open up to the BB's, Howard the duck helped me with that. And I learned to appreciate them. but I still don't think theyre near as good as the beatles

Brian Wilson was a lot better songwriter than any of the Beatles, and had a better lyricist with him if you ask me, idc how pretentious one may allege Parks was.

Plus, he was trying something more complex/deep than anything the Beatles ever touched. The Beatles in most respects were blunt and overt. Btw, if you listen closely, you'll find guitar deep in the mix of many Smile songs; it's assisting to create a rich sound as opposed to being the sole foundation for an entire song. Plus, if you listen that closely to Pet Sounds and Smile, an angel will get its wings.

Also: Was there a poll here before?

You can say Wilson was a better songwriter till the end of time and I won't believe it. He was good but he wasn't as good as Paul, John or george. But I could say that till the end of time and I'm sure you wouldn't believe it.
