How can anyone disagree with it? The Beach Boys are good. They are Legendary, in fact, but their output isn't in the same League as The Beatles in terms of quality.

I think both are massively over rated, but there is no way The Beach Boys can touch The Beatles.

the beach boys were like and american tradition, their transition took time to appreciate. i tend to favour the BB just cause ppl favour the beatles. and to me the BB are equally good but very different.. yea, the songs sound alike, but then again, not at all..

i actually like Lennon's solo career better than the beatles.
I agree, I liked some of George Harrison's material. Paul McCartney (solo) as well.

Wilson was like a Child Prodigy at 8yrs. old. All-Star athlete in high school. All that good stuff.

That's true. The Beach Boys are in a much higher league.

in terms of quality?

"God only Knows"
that song practically shimmers..

"Put your head on my shoulders"
amazing arrangement, impressive vocal range. seriously, you cannot cover that song unless you do it perfectly..

"Hang on to your ego" you should listen to this right about now..

yea the beatles are awesome.. that's a Given!
but the Beach boys are equally good..

Brian Wilson was the best Beach Boy. It even sounds lame. "Beach Boy", haha. But John, Paul and George were all better songwriters who had a more consistent output. John and Paul are widely considered some of the best songwriters of the past century, and George might not get as much credit but most fans know that he was right up there with them. You can't say the same for all the Beach Boys, not even Wilson; he just wasn't as consistent as the Beatles.

Oh dear. The Beach Boys in a higher League than The Beatles? I can't even get through Pet Sounds without either skipping songs or just stopping. Higher League... Come off it.

well Wilson was mentally ill way before Lenon..
so take that.

i mean i agree, in terms of consistency the beatles body of work is amazing..
but to say john & and paul are better musicians than brian it's not really fair. i don't wanna be a dick and shove facts down ppl's throat just Wiki brian and see for yourself all the instruments he play, not too mentioned he PRODUCED the Beach boys

but you said consistency right? of course Brian had consistency! how can you say that? it's quality over quantity you know.. U_U

I'm with you there. There are some good songs on Pet Sounds but I can't tolerate them all.

But the quality of the Bealtes quantity exceeds the quality of the Beach Boys. The Beatles had both.

It's just a matter of opinion. I respect what ya'll say, I'm gonna dig a little deeper into the Beach Boys catalog.

That's not my experience with Pet Sounds. It is my experience with the entire Beatles catalogue though.

i get the feeling that both of you haven't heard anything beyond Pet Sounds

pick up Today, Summer Days (And Summer Nights), Wild Honey, Friends, 20/20, Sunflower and Holland straightaway

and even Smiley Smile or Carl and the Passions - So Tough if you really want to go deep
