I think I might rank Abbey Road higher than Sgt. Peppers. Abbey Road Is probably my favorite Beatles album. I love that side 2 medley. It features some nice guitar playing from George, John and Paul. And even a little drum solo from ringo.

If people give me some other Beach Boys albums other than Pet Sounds to listen to, I will gladly give them a spin. I've picked a few of them out of dollar bins before. I've either had poor luck or the band just doesn't click for me.

Also, I find Good Morning Good Morning to be one of my favorite songs on Sgt Pepper's second half. I have never made any attempt to rationalize this.

Good Morning Good Morning and Getting Better are both pretty underrated

My favourite Beatles recording is actually a cover.

The Beatles - Long Tall Sally - YouTube

They never reached that level of energy on other tracks as far as I'm aware.

Some will like raw performance over more produced tracks, but that sounds like a matter of preference rather than opinion on musical value. I don't mind them earlier on or later on, though more of the acclaimed songs came later.

I agree starrynight. Their musical popularity/career seems so long ago as well. Where does all the time go. Geesh

Everyone seems to have an opinion on The Beatles even if they don't like them. I wasn't even alive when they were releasing these songs but still have plenty to say anyway.

I don't know if it's quite the same level of energy, but I've always been more partial to I'm Down for the same reasoning.

Might be that since it's not a cover I can appreciate it more, though! Kind of sound similar though.

Based on what I've heard of the Beach Boys, I will say that they do have some damn good harmonies and I can't think of many showcases of Beatles harmonies that quite matched the ones on Pet Sounds. I mean, what are the best examples of Beatles harmonies? I keep thinking Yes It Is because I like that song, but is it something like Because?

Are you talking about vocal harmonies?
