Desire - II. A fantastic low key synth pop album with a lot of French language vocals over moody 80's inspired synth beats.

Been listening to this one a lot recently, it seems Jeremih is in the mood for a late night booty call. Pretty cool r'n'b in the same vein as Miguel or The Weeknd, but a little more blunt with its intentions. |

I've been listening to a lot of synth pop lately (Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Erasure to name a few). The song that has stuck out to me the most has been Pet Shop Boys' 'It's a Sin'. While I enjoy the mellow tracks by Depeche Mode and the bounciness of Erasure, that bombastic pulsating dance flavor on 'It's a Sin' is something I would love to hear more of. Can anymore make a recommendation for synth pop, preferably 80's but that's not required, that is along those lines?

Club 8 is a Swedish pop band I've been following since their days on Parasol Records (excellent label & net store which I wish never had never closed). In some ways they are similar to Saint Etienne but they have their own approach to indie electronic/dance pop. My favorite track off the new album is "Hot Sun" which unfortunately I couldn't find on youtube. Above the City is their most varied album to date and as much as I enjoy it, I still prefer their s/t album (which had a nice Everything but the Girl vibe to it) and The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Dreaming , their first release on the Labrador label. |
